Using Moves with Apple Watch, Oura Ring, and Other Wearables

Moves is built as a standalone strength training app, and right now we don't have a direct integration with Apple Watch, Oura Ring, or other wearable devices. If you've been wondering why — or just want to know how to make everything work together — here's the full picture.

Why doesn't Moves have a watch app or wearable integration?

We hear this one a lot, and it's a fair question! The honest answer is that building and maintaining a watch app would pull significant time and resources away from what we believe makes the biggest difference for you — the programming, features, and experience inside the Moves app itself. We're intentional about where we invest, and right now that means continuing to build better programs, smarter tools, and a stronger mobile app.

There's also something worth saying about wearable metrics in general. Numbers like calories burned and activity scores are estimates — and often imprecise ones. Every body is different, every device measures differently, and we'd rather not build tools that encourage you to optimize around data that doesn't tell the full story. Strength training progress is better measured by how you're performing, how you feel, and how consistently you're showing up. That's what we're here to support!

Apple Watch

While there's no Moves Apple Watch app, you can still track your workouts using your watch's built-in workout modes. A few that pair well with Moves programming:

  • Functional Strength Training

  • Core Training

  • Traditional Weight Training

Choose whichever feels like the closest match to what you're doing that day. The data won't sync directly into Moves, but you'll still have a record of your session in your watch's activity history.

Oura Ring

There's no automatic sync between Moves and Oura, but you can manually log your Moves workouts in the Oura app by adding or editing an activity after your session. It takes a little extra effort, but it keeps your data complete and accurate across both platforms.

General Tips

  • Use your wearable's built-in workout modes to track sessions alongside Moves.

  • Manually log completed workouts in apps like Oura when automatic syncing isn't available.

  • Try a few different workout modes to find the best match for your Moves sessions.

Even without a direct integration, you can still get a solid picture of your overall activity — and Moves will keep doing what it does best: giving you a program that's built to work.
