Once you've added a recipe to your plan, cooking it is straightforward — everything you need is right inside the app. Here's how to go from "what's for dinner" to done.
💡 Tip: To save time at the grocery store, we recommend building your plan for the week before you start cooking. Once your recipes are added to My Plan, you can export one grocery list, shop once, and cook all week. See How does the Moves+ Meals tab work?
Open the recipe
Head to My Plan and tap any recipe in the list to open it. You can also open recipes directly from the Favorites or Cooked tabs.
At the top of the recipe you'll see the photo, title, cook time, serving size, any dietary tags (like GF for gluten free), and a full macros breakdown — calories, protein, fat, carbs, and fiber — so you know exactly what you're working with before you start.
Each recipe also includes a short description below the title — tap more to expand it. This is worth a read before you dive in: beyond describing the dish, it often includes chef tips and shortcuts, like time-saving swaps or technique notes that make the recipe easier to pull off.
Check your ingredients
Tap the Ingredients tab to see the full ingredient list with quantities. Give it a quick scan before you start cooking — and if anything doesn't work for you, scroll to the bottom of the Ingredients tab to find the Substitutions section. Tap any dietary category to expand it and see exactly what to swap.
🛒 Need a grocery list? Scroll past the ingredients and tap Export Grocery List to send this recipe's ingredients to Notes, a text, email, or print. See How do I export a grocery list from the Meals tab?
Follow the step-by-step instructions
Tap the Instructions tab to start cooking. Each step is laid out individually — no scrolling through a wall of text. As you complete each step, tap the checkbox in the top right corner of that step to check it off and keep your place.
Mark it as Cooked ✅
When you're done, tap Mark as Cooked at the bottom of the Instructions tab. The recipe moves automatically to your Cooked tab — so you always have a record of what you've made and can easily add it back to a future week.
You can also mark several recipes as cooked at once: from My Plan, tap Select, choose the recipes, and tap Cooked in the bar at the bottom.
And if you loved it, tap the heart icon ♡ at the top right anytime to save it to your Favorites so it's easy to find again later.
