Applying a Promo, Discount, or Gift Code at Checkout

Where to enter a promo, discount, or gift code, common reasons a code won't apply, and how codes interact with free trials.

Where do I enter a promo or discount code?

Promo and discount codes are entered on the checkout/payment screen before you confirm your subscription — look for a field labeled "Promo Code" or "Discount Code." Enter the code exactly as it was shared with you (codes are case-sensitive, and extra spaces can cause an error) and tap Apply before completing checkout.

Note: Codes must be applied before you finish checkout. A code cannot be added to a subscription after your purchase is complete. Additionally, free trials are limited to one per email address. If you've already used a free trial, you'll need to use a different email address to access another trial.

Why isn't my code working?

If a code is rejected or shows as invalid, it's usually one of these:

  • The code has expired — Many promo codes are only valid for a limited window after you're eligible, such as immediately following a Move Together challenge. If you wait too long, the code expires.

  • The code is single-use or already redeemed — Some codes can only be applied once per account or per household.

  • The code doesn't apply to your plan type — Some codes may offer different benefits depending on the plan type. Check which plan the code is intended for.

  • The code can't be combined with a free trial — If you're starting a free trial, some discount codes won't apply until the trial ends and paid billing begins.

  • The code is only valid for new purchases or first-time upgrades — Most promo and discount codes apply to new subscriptions or a first-time upgrade from monthly to annual. They generally cannot be applied to renewals on an existing monthly or annual account.

  • Typo or formatting issue — Double check for extra spaces or look-alike characters (like 0 vs O, or 1 vs l).

If you've checked all of the above and the code still won't apply, contact support with the exact code and where you found it, and we'll take a look. If you've already used a free trial, you can still use a promo code by signing up with a different email address to access trial benefits again.

How does a code affect my free trial billing?

If you apply a discount code while starting a free trial, the discount is generally applied to the first billing charge after the trial ends — not to the trial itself, since trials are already free. Your card will not be charged during the trial period regardless of the code. Once the trial ends, your subscription will renew at the discounted rate for as long as the code specifies (e.g., first month or first year), then return to the standard price.

If you're unsure whether your code was successfully applied, check your credit card to see what amount you were billed — the discounted price should show there once your trial converts to a paid subscription.

Applying a Gift Code

Gift codes work differently from promo/discount codes — they cover a subscription period outright rather than discounting a charge. To apply a gift code to your account:

  • Go to your account settings and look for "Redeem Gift Code" (or enter it at checkout if you're a new subscriber).

  • Enter the gift code exactly as received.

  • Your subscription will be extended or activated for the length of the gift.

If a gift code won't redeem, confirm it hasn't already been used and that you're logged into the correct account — gift codes are tied to a single account once redeemed.
