Shutter Counts

If applicable, a shutter count will be listed for the item. This is an indication of the usage the camera has had - similar to mileage on a car.

A camera's shutter mechanism has a limited lifespan (often rated by manufacturers to last anywhere from around 50,000 to over 300,000 shutter actuations, depending on the camera model). Photographers often check the shutter count when buying or selling used cameras because it gives an indication of the camera's condition and expected remaining lifespan.

Fungus

Lenses or other items with glass elements may contain fungus. If present, this will always be noted on the listing along with a description of its severity.

Fungus is a common issue—especially in humid or damp environments—where moisture can develop into microscopic spores. Over time, these spores can grow and potentially affect image quality.

If fungus is present, it will be clearly identified in the product listing and graded according to MPB’s fungus condition guidelines.

View fungus condition guidelines

  1. Light moisture - Light moisture appears as a fine mist or a few scattered droplets. It doesn't affect image quality but could worsen over time, creating conditions that may lead to fungus growth.

  2. Heavy moisture - Heavy moisture involves larger or more widespread droplets, often covering entire elements. It increases the risk of fungus growth and may show early signs of it starting.

  3. Minor fungus - Minor fungus appears as small white patches or threads and doesn't affect image quality. However, it poses a moderate risk of spreading in the right conditions.

  4. Moderate fungus - Moderate fungus features multiple patches and visible threads but hasn’t overtaken the lens. It’s still usable and unlikely to affect image quality.

MPB does not purchase any items with severe fungus that significantly impacts image quality. We only accept items with minimal or less severe signs of fungus.

Additional Product Information

If an item is listed within our ‘Spares & Repairs’ condition grading, or has any significant areas to address with regards to functionality - it will be mentioned within the listing under ‘Additional Product Information’

Here you can find observations relating to the product, and potentially further information as to why it is found within that condition grading.

What’s included?

Within the ‘What’s Included’ section, you can find further information about the accessories listed which will be included with the product if purchased.

As we deal with used equipment, we cannot guarantee that the kit we buy comes with all original accessories. We always list each accessory that does come with the item on the individual listing page under the 'what’s in the box' section

The condition of equipment is not a reflection of accessories, we base all condition ratings purely on the cosmetic condition along with shutter counts for cameras. For example, a lens in like-new condition could come without a hood (and in some cases reduced in price due to this too).

It is always recommended to check this section to ensure you are purchasing the right listing that fits your needs.

Product Specifications

The model overview section will provide information on the model itself, with the overview exploring its history, performance and specialities.

Here you can view the specifications of the item, including its performance specifications, weight and compatibility support.

Do you use stock images?

At MPB we do not use stock images on our product listings. Every item is assigned a unique SKU number and is thoroughly checked and photographed individually so you can inspect the condition carefully before you make your purchase.
