Choosing a cosmetic grading for selling or trading

Updated over 2 weeks ago

When you buy, sell or trade, you’ll be able to choose from five cosmetic conditions: Like new, Excellent, Good, Well used, and Heavily used.

Not sure which cosmetic condition rating to pick when selling or trading in? Read on for more info and then use your best judgment. Our product specialists will carefully inspect the performance and appearance of your gear after you ship it to us.

MPB’s five cosmetic conditions

Like new: As if your item(s) were brand new out of the box. Little to no sign of wear to the body or casing. Minimal or no dust, marks, or paint defects are present.

Excellent: Minor signs of wear to the body or casing. Light dust, marks, and paint defects may be present.

Good: Noticeable signs of wear to rubber grips, ports or other components. Dust, marks, and paint defects may be present.

Well used: Distinct signs of wear and light scuffs to rubber grips, ports or other components. Considerable dust, marks, and paint defects may be present.

Heavily used: Significant signs of wear, heavy marks, or scuffs to rubber grips, ports, or other components. Heavy dust, marks, and paint defects may be present.

Please note - MPB are unable to purchase items which are dysfunctional or experience severe defects that could impact the usability of the item.

Shutter-counts

Our product specialists will also inspect the shutter count of cameras where this is applicable to help determine its condition grading. If the shutter count is lower than expected for an item's condition grade, we'll add money to your quote. If the shutter count is higher than expected, we'll adjust the quote accordingly.
