The Status tab gives you a live overview of subway and bus service, access to planned service changes, and information about elevator and escalator outages. You can also access Chat for customer care. There are four sections.

Favorites

Displays real-time alerts and active planned services for your favorite subway lines and bus routes. Links to the Planned Service Changes web tool, filtered by your favorite lines and routes.

Subway

Displays real-time alerts and active planned services for the entire subway plus the Staten Island Railway (SIR) by trunk line. Affected lines in each trunk (the group of subway lines that are colored the same on the map) are badged with an alert. If there is a single alert, the service status will be listed. Otherwise, the number of alerts will be listed.

Tapping on a trunk provides the most important alert information for all the lines in that trunk. Tap “show more details” to see the entire alert.

Bus

Search for a bus route and tap on it to see the alerts for that route.

Outages

See current elevator or escalator outages, sorted by distance from your location. You can change to alphabetical sorting in the filters menu.

Search for a specific outage by station or equipment ID.

Filter the results list by equipment type or type of alert: active outages or planned active and upcoming outages.
