What is the coherence score?

The Coherence Score is a metric that assesses how well a clip maintains the overall coherence and clarity of the original long-form video. It serves as a measure of the clip's ability to convey the intended message and keep the audience engaged.

Why does the coherence score matter?

The Coherence Score plays a crucial role in evaluating how effectively a clip can stand alone as a self-contained message without viewers needing to reference the original long-form video. This metric is an important indicator of a clip's ability to maintain coherence and clarity, allowing audiences to grasp the intended message and context without delving into the full video. Content creators and marketers find it invaluable for creating impactful and concise clips that resonate with viewers, enhancing engagement and understanding without requiring a deep dive into the source material.

The 5 levels of coherence score:

  1. Fair: Suggests that the shortened video might lose some context and flow from the original long-form video. While it may be sufficient for certain purposes, improvements can enhance clarity.

  2. Medium: Implies that the edited clip does a reasonable job at preserving the coherence of the original video. It is acceptable for conveying the message, but there is room for improvement.

  3. Good: Indicates that the clip maintains a high degree of coherence and clarity, effectively conveying the message.

  4. Very Good: Demonstrates a high level of proficiency. The shortened video maintains almost all of the original content's coherence and is likely to engage the audience effectively.

  5. Excellent: The highest level, signifying that the edited video is nearly indistinguishable from the original in terms of coherence. This level ensures the message remains crystal clear, fostering exceptional audience engagement.

Where can I see the coherence score?

When you open a project you've uploaded, you'll find several 'cards' containing various clips created by Munch for you. On each card, you'll discover general information about the clip, including the coherence score.
