Why can’t the app scan barcodes or nutrition labels?

How to fix camera access issues

If barcode or nutrition label scanning isn’t working, the app may not have permission to use your camera. You can check and fix this in your iPhone settings:

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone.

  2. Scroll down and tap "Apps".

  3. Find and tap "Calorie Counter".

  4. Make sure Camera access is enabled.

Once camera access is turned on, return to the app and try scanning again.


If scanning still doesn’t work after enabling camera permissions, a screen recording can help us understand what’s going wrong.

To record your screen:

  1. Swipe down from the top-right corner of your screen to open Control Center.

  2. Tap the gray Record button 🔘 and wait for the 3-second countdown.

  3. Exit Control Center and reproduce the issue in the app.

  4. To stop recording, tap the red Screen Recording button 🔴 at the top of your screen and tap Stop button, or open Control Center and tap the red Record button again.

You can then share the recording with our support team so we can investigate further.
