What is YouTube Channel Monetisation?

YouTube Channel Monetisation is when YouTube shares with you the ad revenue it earns from adverts that are diaplyed before your videos. But in order to qualify for monetisation you must meet the following criteria:

- Users must have watched your content for at least 4,000 hours over the past 12 months.

- You need at least 1,000 subscribers.

- You need a linked AdSense account.

- You must be located somewhere where the YouTube Partner Program is available.

Any money you earn through YouTube Channel Monetisation is paid out to you directly by YouTube.

If you do not want ads to run on your video you can turn off monetisation in your video setting:

- Go to YouTube Studio.

- In the left menu, select Content.

- Next to the relevant video, click Monetization .

- Click Off in the monetization drop-down menu.

- Click Save.

What is YouTube Content ID?

YouTube Content ID is a service whereby the content you have uploaded or distributed to YouTube is ‘fingerprinted’ and monitored. This allows you to prevent other YouTube users from using your content (is this case, your music) without permission or, if they are earning monetisation revenue when using your content, for you to be paid for their use of your content.

Any money you earn through YouTube Content ID is paid out through MusicHub like other streaming royatlies.
