How do I book a lesson?

For teachers: Take control of your lesson bookings.

Updated over a month ago

At MusicTeachers.co.uk, the teacher controls the schedule of lessons. Here you will learn how to create lessons for your students using the booking systems in the platform.

Required information

Before creating a lesson you will need to know:

  • Date

  • Start time

  • Duration

  • Instrument or subject

  • Location

If the above information has not been confirmed with the student, send them a message through the inbox to clarify the lesson details.

What booking systems can I use?

Depending on the way you like to work, we have different products to suit your needs. Read more about Lesson blocks (flexible) and Lesson Offers (fixed) in our help centre. Understanding the products and which ones are best for you will help make lesson booking much easier.

How to book a lesson

You can enter the booking system from many places on the platform. The most commonly used is the conversation view from the inbox. Go to your inbox and click on a student’s name to open your conversation view with them. From here, you can enter the different booking systems on the platform.

Booking a lesson using the Blocks of lessons system

For desktop users, from the left-hand panel, click “Create lessons”

For mobile users, press “Recent actions” near the top of the conversation view, then press “Create lessons”.

"Create lessons" opens up the booking form.

Using the Blocks of lessons booking form

  • Ensure the Student name, Instrument and Duration are completed

  • Plot the date and time in the calendar section or hide the calendar to input the details manually

  • If necessary, use the toggles to move to a different week

  • Enter the location and decide if you would like to schedule repeated lessons in the booking system

  • Check the summary to make sure the dates and locations are correct

  • For lessons at the student’s home, decide if you would like to add a transport fee

  • If transport fee is to be added, ensure the box is ticked and choose the fee from the drop-down list

  • Check the income summary is correct

  • Click on 'read more' to view the pricing and purchasing options your students will be shown - this is view only and cannot be amended from this screen

  • Press "Create Booking" to send the lesson(s) to the student

If you are using the Offer a trial lesson button:

  • The student's name is pre-filled

  • Enter the instrument or subject

  • Select the location (online is also an option here)

  • Enter the required student price (£0.00 upwards)

  • If you like to add a deadline of 5 days to the lesson, check the box. Otherwise, leave the box empty

  • Where the price of the lesson is not £0.00, select the terms and conditions you require

  • The Lesson title is pre-filled. You can overwrite this if you wish.

  • If you wish, add further information in the description about what to bring, parking arrangements etc.

  • Lastly, press “send offer” to send the Trial Lesson to your student. It will show in your calendar in orange (pending)

  • You will receive an email notification once the lesson has been confirmed (including payment if necessary). The lesson will turn green (confirmed) and will appear on your invoice
