Updated over a week ago

This guide is designed to help you resolve common errors and better understand how the eBay integration works within AccelerList. If you encounter issues during setup, onboarding, or while listing items, the sections below will walk you through the most common causes and how to fix them.

Troubleshooting Onboarding Errors

These errors usually appear in Settings → eBay Settings and will prevent you from listing items until they are resolved.

"Please set eBay PayPal email"

Meaning:
You skipped entering a PayPal email, which is required for eBay policy setup.

Solution:
Go to Settings → eBay Settings, enter your PayPal email, and click Save. Wait a few seconds for the system to confirm and load your policies.

"Please update eBay settings as we are missing some of the policies"

Meaning:
One or more required eBay policies are not selected.

Solution:
Make sure all required fields are selected:

  • Fulfillment Policy

  • Payment Policy

  • Return Policy

  • Merchant Location

All dropdowns should have valid values selected before proceeding.

No policies showing in dropdowns

Meaning:
Your eBay policies failed to load, usually due to incomplete setup or connection issues.

Solution:

  1. Refresh the page

  2. Ensure your PayPal email is entered and saved

  3. Reauthorize your eBay connection if needed

"User is not eligible for Business Policy"

Meaning:
Your eBay account is too new or does not yet qualify for Business Policies.

Solution:

  1. Go to Settings → eBay Settings and wait ~15 seconds for auto-enrollment

  2. If still not working, continue selling directly on eBay to build account history

  3. Retry setup after gaining some activity

Troubleshooting Listing Errors

These errors appear when you try to Publish to eBay or create a listing.

"The eBay listing has invalid data in the associated Return policy."

Meaning:
Your return policy is missing required information (e.g., return window or refund method).

Solution:

  • Quick fix: Re-select the default AccelerList Return Policy

  • Manual fix: Edit your policy in eBay Seller Hub → Business Policies and ensure all fields are completed

"The eBay listing has invalid data in the associated Fulfillment policy."

Meaning:
Your shipping/fulfillment policy is incomplete (e.g., missing handling time or shipping service).

Solution:

  • Quick fix: Re-select the AccelerList Fulfillment Policy

  • Manual fix: Update your policy in eBay to include valid shipping options and handling time

Policy Deleted Error

Meaning:
A policy previously selected in AccelerList was deleted in eBay.

Solution:
Go to Settings → eBay Settings and select a new valid policy to replace the deleted one.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

About Policies & Customization

Q: Do I have to use the AccelerList policies?
A: No. These are just default templates for convenience. You can use any custom policy created in your eBay Seller Hub.

Q: Can I edit the AccelerList policies?
A: Yes. They exist inside your eBay account. You can edit them anytime via eBay Seller Hub → Business Policies, and changes apply immediately.

Q: Will changing policies affect existing listings?
A: No. Policy changes only apply to new listings. Existing listings must be updated manually in eBay.

About Payments & PayPal Email

Q: I use eBay Managed Payments. Do I still need a PayPal email?
A: Yes. Even with Managed Payments, eBay still requires a PayPal email field for policy configuration. This does not affect where your payouts go—your funds will still be deposited to your bank account.

About Fulfillment (FBA / MCF)

Q: What if I use Amazon FBA for fulfillment?
A: You still need to set a Merchant Location (your home or business address). This is required by eBay for all listings, even if Amazon handles shipping through Multi-Channel Fulfillment (MCF).

Summary

Most eBay errors during setup or listing are caused by:

  • Missing or incomplete policies

  • Invalid or deleted policy selections

  • Account eligibility limitations

  • Missing required fields (like PayPal email or merchant location)

By ensuring all settings are complete and valid, you can avoid most issues and list smoothly on eBay.
