How to Fix QZ Tray “No Connection” Issue on Windows

This guide helps you troubleshoot and fix QZ Tray connection issues on Windows so your printer can work properly with AccelerList.

If your printer is not connecting to AccelerList even after installing QZ Tray, follow these steps to quickly resolve the issue.

Step 1: Make Sure QZ Tray Is Running

  • Look at the bottom-right corner (system tray)

  • Click the ^ arrow to show hidden icons

  • Check if the QZ Tray icon is visible

👉 If not, open QZ Tray manually


Step 2: Restart QZ Tray

  • Right-click the QZ Tray icon

  • Click Exit

  • Reopen QZ Tray

  • Refresh AccelerList


Step 3: Allow the Connection Popup

When printing, you should see:
“Allow this site to access QZ Tray”

👉 Click Allow / Trust / Yes

⚠️ If no popup appears, continue below


Step 4: Check Your Computer Date & Time (Very Important)

  • Go to Date & Time Settings

  • Turn ON:

    • Set time automatically

    • Set time zone automatically

  • Restart your computer


Step 5: Clear QZ Tray Certificates

  • Right-click the QZ Tray icon

  • Click About

  • Go to Advanced / SSL Certificates

  • Click Clear / Remove Certificates

  • Restart QZ Tray


Step 6: Check Your Browser

  • Use Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge

  • Make sure popups are not blocked


Advanced Fix: Ensure QZ Tray Runs Automatically on Startup

If QZ Tray is not opening automatically, follow these steps:

  • Click the Start Menu

  • Type QZ Tray

  • Right-click it → Click Open file location

  • In the folder:

    • Right-click QZ Tray.exe

    • Click Create shortcut


🔹 Step 2: Open the Startup Folder

  • Press Windows Key + R

  • Type:
    shell:startup

  • Press Enter

🔹 Step 3: Add to Startup

  • Copy the AL Print shortcut

  • Paste it into the Startup folder

🔹 Step 4: Set Default Printer

  • Go to Settings → Bluetooth & Devices → Printers & Scanners

  • Turn OFF:

    • Let Windows manage my default printer

  • Select your printer → Click Set as Default

🔹 Step 5: Allow Through Firewall

  • Open Windows Security

  • Go to Firewall & Network Protection

  • Click Allow an app through firewall

  • Click Change settings

  • Make sure AL Print has:

    • ✅ Private

    • ✅ Public

🔹 Step 6: Restart & Test

  • Restart your computer

  • Confirm:

    • QZ Tray opens automatically

    • Printer is ready

    • Test print works

  • QZ Tray is running

  • Certificates are cleared

  • Browser permissions are allowed

  • Startup is properly configured
