Troubleshooting Guide: QZ Tray Not Starting or Connecting on Mac

This guide walks you through simple steps to resolve QZ Tray connection issues on Mac so your printer works smoothly with AccelerList.

If QZ Tray is installed but not connecting to AccelerList, try these steps:


Part 1: Ensure QZ Tray Opens on Startup

Step 1: Open System Settings

  • Click the Search icon (top-right of your Mac)

  • Type System Settings and press Enter


Step 2: Go to Login Items

  • Click General (left sidebar)

  • Select Login Items & Extensions


Step 3: Add QZ Tray to Open at Login

  • Under Open at Login, click the + (plus) button

  • In the file browser:

    • Go to Applications

    • Select QZ Tray

  • Click Open


Step 4: Enable Background Permission

  • Scroll to Allow in the Background

  • Make sure QZ Tray is turned ON (toggle should be blue)


Step 5: Restart Your Mac

  • Restart your computer

  • Confirm QZ Tray launches automatically after login


Part 2: Fix QZ Tray Not Connecting to AccelerList

If QZ Tray is installed but not connecting, try the steps below:


1. Make Sure QZ Tray Is Running

  • Look at the top menu bar (near the clock)

  • You should see the QZ Tray icon
    👉 If not, open it manually from Applications


2. Restart QZ Tray

  • Click the QZ Tray icon

  • Click Quit QZ Tray

  • Reopen it

  • Refresh AccelerList


3. Allow the Connection Popup

When printing, you should see:
“Allow this site to access QZ Tray”

👉 Click Allow / Trust / Yes

⚠️ If no popup appears, continue below


4. Fix Date & Time (Very Important)

Go to:
System Settings → General → Date & Time

Turn ON:

  • Set date and time automatically

  • Set time zone automatically

Restart your Mac


5. Clear QZ Tray Certificates

  • Click the QZ Tray icon

  • Click About

  • Go to Advanced / SSL Certificates

  • Click Clear / Remove Certificates

  • Restart QZ Tray


6. Check Browser

  • Use Google Chrome (recommended)

  • Make sure popups are allowed


7. Check Printer Permissions (Mac-specific)

Go to:
System Settings → Privacy & Security

  • Ensure QZ Tray has permission if prompted


Final Check ✅

Before testing again, make sure:

  • QZ Tray is running

  • You clicked Allow on the popup

  • Certificates are cleared

👉 Then try printing again in AccelerList
