Before reading ahead, check your "List of Covered Items" to see if you have the category: "Procedures and Treatments - Tests" available. If you do not have this category, please reach out to live chat to determine if your plan allows these items.

The main factor determining the eligibility of any pre-natal testing expenses under an HSA is whether the testing is prescribed or requested by a medical practitioner. If the testing is prescribed or requested by a doctor who is checking in on the health of the mother or fetus, it is an eligible expense.

If it is elective, and being sought by the parents privately without a prescription, it is not eligible. (This includes pre-natal ultrasounds as well)The receipt must show that the testing was prescribed or requested by a qualified medical practitioner. Additionally, the receipt should include the testing practitioner’s name and credentials.

As always, you can reach out to support@getmyhsa.com or via live chat if you would like extra clarification on this!
