At myHSA, we are dedicated to helping you make the most of your Wellness Spending Account (WSA). One valuable category you might find beneficial is Pet Insurance. Here’s how you can take advantage of this benefit to ensure your pet’s well-being.

Eligibility for Pet Insurance

Pet insurance is eligible for reimbursement under your WSA if your plan includes the category "Pet Insurance (Taxable)." This means you can claim the costs associated with insuring your pets, providing peace of mind for unexpected veterinary expenses.

Unfortunately, pet insurance is not eligible under the Health Spending Account (HSA) because pets are not considered eligible dependents.

What’s Covered?

Under the "Pet Insurance (Taxable)" category, you can claim expenses for:

  • Premiums: The monthly or annual cost of your pet insurance policy.

  • Accident Coverage: Insurance coverage for accidents that may occur, resulting in veterinary care.

  • Illness Coverage: Coverage for illnesses that require veterinary attention and treatment.

  • Preventive Care: Some pet insurance plans cover routine preventive care, such as vaccinations and wellness exams.

Ensure that your WSA includes the "Pet Insurance (Taxable)" category. If you’re unsure, our support team can help you verify your plan details.
