Overview
Once an LP (Sequential) session is running, things don't always go to plan: a location is blocked, you're called away, or a colleague has already started on the cart. This article explains each action you can take during a session and what happens to the queue and the reserved locations. To start a session, see Sequential Putaway for Parent LPs.
At a glance
Action | What it does | Queue effect | Reserved location |
Skip This LP for Now | Defers the current LP | LP moves to the end | Kept |
Suggest Another | Finds a different location for the current LP | Only this LP's place may change | Moves to the new location |
Place at a different location | Puts the LP where you scan | LP is done; others unchanged | Released |
Resume Session | Picks up where you stopped | Unchanged | Kept |
Start New Session | Cancels the old session, builds a new one | Rebuilt | Old released, new reserved |
Cancel Session | Ends the session | — | All remaining released |
Every action except cancelling the session restarts the session's 60-minute timer. None of them reverses LPs you've already placed.
Skip an LP
Tap Skip This LP for Now. The LP goes to the end of the queue and the next LP loads, with the message "[LP code] skipped and moved to the end of the queue." The Progress count doesn't change.
The skipped LP keeps its suggested location and reservation. When you reach it again, the same suggestion is shown; use Suggest Another if the location is still unavailable. If it's the last LP left, skipping just brings it back.
Example: TOTE-14 is suggested for B-07, but a pallet is blocking the aisle. You skip it, place the other six totes, and by the time TOTE-14 comes back the aisle is clear.
Suggest Another
Tap the refresh icon next to the Suggested Location. Logiwa IO runs the putaway algorithm again for the current LP only, leaving out its current location. Other LPs' suggestions don't change. If a new location is found, the reservation moves to it.
Whether the queue order still fits depends on the new location's Walking Path Priority, compared with the suggested location of the next LP in the queue:
The new location's walking path priority is… | What you see |
The same as or lower than the next LP's location (it still comes before it on your route) | The new location simply replaces the old one. Scan it to continue |
Higher than the next LP's location (it would come after it on your route) | An Attention sheet: "New location is outside of your route. Would you like to putaway this child LP right now, or re-optimize your route to include this location in the sequence?" |
On the Attention sheet:
Putaway Now to New Location: the new location is shown and the target field is cleared. Scan the new location to place the LP now, even though it's out of walking order.
Re-optimize Route & Putaway Later: the LP is moved to the place in the queue that matches its new location's walking path priority, and the next LP loads.
Example: LP1's suggested location has walking path priority 1, and the next LP in the queue, LP2, has priority 2. You tap Suggest Another for LP1 and get a location with priority 5. That location comes after LP2's on your route, so the Attention sheet appears. With Re-optimize Route & Putaway Later, LP1 moves behind LP2 in the queue and LP2 loads next. With Putaway Now to New Location, you place LP1 at the new location straight away.
No alternative found. The screen shows "No location suggestion found based on current putaway rules. You can manually select a location to proceed." Tap Suggest Another to retry, or place the LP at a location of your choice (see below).
Place an LP at a different location
You can place the LP somewhere else by scanning a different location in Target Location; scanning it completes the putaway. The LP is moved there, its original reservation is released, and the queue moves on. The rest of the queue isn't recalculated.
If the putaway algorithm has Force Suggested Location on, this isn't possible: the Target Location field is locked to the suggested location. Use Suggest Another or Skip This LP for Now instead. See Enforcing Suggested Locations During Putaway.
Resume a session
If you leave the app or the screen, the session stays active for 60 minutes after your last action.
Go to Transfer > Directed Putaway > LP (Sequential).
Scan the same parent LP and tap Next.
A sheet shows the parent LP, Child LPs Placed and the time remaining. With 5 minutes or less left, it also shows New session recommended.
Tap Resume Session. The queue appears exactly as you left it; nothing is recalculated.
Start a new session instead
On the same sheet, tap Start New Session. The old session is cancelled, its reservations are released, and new suggestions are calculated for the child LPs still on the parent LP. LPs you've already placed aren't included. If the old session can't be cancelled, you see "Session could not be terminated. Please try again."
💡 Start a new session if a long time has passed and the warehouse has changed, so you get fresh suggestions.
Cancel a session
On the putaway screen, open the 3-dot menu.
Tap Cancel Session and confirm.
All remaining reservations are released straight away and you return to the putaway methods screen. LPs already placed stay where they are.
When a colleague holds the session
Only one session can be active per parent LP, and only the operator who started it can resume or cancel it. If you scan a parent LP that a colleague is working on, you see:
"An active putaway session for this parent LP is currently held by [first and last name]. Please ask them to resume or terminate the session before starting a new one."
Supervisors can't cancel it on their behalf. If the colleague isn't available, the session ends by itself 60 minutes after their last action.
When a session expires
After 60 minutes without any action, the session expires and its remaining reservations are released. LPs already placed stay where they are. If you then try to skip or request another suggestion, you see "No active session found for this parent LP. The session may have expired. Please scan the parent LP again to start a new session." Scan the parent LP to start a new session for the remaining LPs.
When an LP leaves the session
What happened | Result |
The LP was removed from the parent LP, or emptied, by another process | When you try to place it: "This LP is no longer associated with this Parent LP. It has been removed from the queue." The session continues |
Someone put the LP away with the regular Directed LP Putaway option | It leaves your session and its reservation moves to them. Your queue skips it |
Common questions
Does any of these actions restart the whole queue? No. Only Start New Session recalculates the queue. Skip and Suggest Another only affect the current LP.
Can I use Suggest Another more than once? Yes. Each tap leaves out the location you were just offered, until no alternative is left.
What happens to my reservations if I simply walk away? They stay until the session expires, 60 minutes after your last action. Cancel the session to release them straight away for other operators.
