Need to know more about the differences between pack types, product types, and product groups? Product-related categories can be viewed and modified in the Data Setup section under Settings. Click below to learn about each one.
Pack Types
There are two types of pack types under the pack type umbrella in the system, UOM and parent pack types. Any pack types you create can be assigned as UOM or parent pack types. To learn more about the difference between these pack types, please visit this article.
You are required to include the UOM pack type when setting up your products. The default pack type is Unit, but additional pack types are easy to add. Just follow the steps below.
Navigate to the Data Setup page and click Pack Types from the left sidebar.
Click the Create New Product Pack Type button on the right side of the screen.
A sidebar will open. Enter the new pack type in the Product Pack Type field. You can add any name that makes sense for the products in your warehouse.
Hit the Save button.
A confirmation message will appear at the bottom of the screen, and your new pack type will display in the list.
To Edit or Delete a pack type, simply click the 3 Dots menu next to that product type and select the option you need.
Product Types
Product types are optional conditions you can apply to your products to help categorize them. Your account will include a number of defaults, but you can add more at any time following these steps.
To begin, navigate to the Data Setup screen.
Click Product Type to load this section.
Click the Create New Product Type button.
A sidebar will open. Enter the new product type in the Product Type field. You can add any name that makes sense for the types of products in your warehouse.
Click Save.
If the product type was created successfully, a confirmation message will display.
To Edit or Delete a product type, simply click the 3 Dots menu next to that product type and select the option you need.
Product Groups
Product groups are optional, broader groups than product types that can be used as additional categories to track your products. Unlike pack types and product types, there are no system defaults for product groups. If you wish to add some, follow the steps below.
Navigate to the Data Setup screen.
Click Product Group on the left sidebar.
Click the Create New Product Group button.
A sidebar will open. Enter the new product type in the Product Group field. You can add any name that makes sense for the types of products in your warehouse.
Click Save.
If the product group was created successfully, a confirmation message will display.
To Edit or Delete a product group, simply click the 3 Dots menu next to that product type and select the option you need.
