In some instances, users may experience an issue where the virtual keyboard fails to appear, or is otherwise blocked when attempting to enter data, because of their device settings. Alternately, some users may want automatic pop-up of the keyboard and find that it is restricted. This article will explain how either of these situations can be corrected through our app's settings.
Solution
The issue stems from the settings configured under the user's profile in the mobile application. Here are the steps to adjust the settings to ensure the virtual keyboard pops up automatically:
On the main screen of the mobile application, tap on the Profile section.
In the Profile menu, select the Mobile Phone Keyboard option.
Next, choose the correct keyboard behavior. You will be presented with a few options: Mobile Phone or Handheld Terminal.
If Mobile Phone is selected, it allows for automatic keyboard pop-up.
If the keyboard is appearing and blocking a button the user needs to access, it is likely that the automatic keyboard has been allowed.
If Handheld Terminal is selected, it restricts the keyboard to only manual activation.
If the keyboard is appearing and disappearing rapidly, it is likely that it has been restricted.
To enable automatic pop-up of the virtual keyboard, select an option other than Handheld Terminal. This adjustment ensures that the keyboard appears automatically whenever you tap into an input field.
Some users may wish for the keyboard to display automatically, while others may find that the keyboard gets in the way of tasks. Please consider the devices in use in your warehouse.
