Using video in Nearo

Learn how video works in Nearo and where you can turn your camera on, off, or change settings.

Updated over 3 months ago

Nearo uses live video to help you and the other participant see each other clearly during a session, with simple controls available before and during a call.

How video works in Nearo

Nearo video is live and real time, meaning your camera feed is only shared while you are actively in a session.

Video is not recorded or stored unless recording is explicitly enabled.

Your camera can be turned on or off at any time, and you can switch cameras if more than one is available on your computer.

Adjusting video settings during a call

While you are in an active session, video controls are available directly on the call screen.

You can manage your video during a call using the camera controls:

  • Click the camera icon to turn your video on or off at any time.

  • Click the down arrow next to the camera icon to open your camera settings.

  • Select a different camera if more than one camera is connected to your computer.

Adjusting video settings in the Nearo Desktop app

You can also manage your video before or during a session using the Video button in the Nearo Desktop app.

Use the Video button to control your camera:

  • Click the Video button with the camera icon to turn your camera on or off.

  • Click the down arrow next to the Video button to open your camera settings.

  • Choose a different camera if more than one is available.

🔔 If your camera does not appear as an option, make sure Nearo has permission to access your camera in your computer’s system settings.

If you continue to have trouble with video, contact Nearo support and include your operating system and the camera you are using.
