Starting a Nearo Room

How to open your Nearo Room, share your Room link or code, and admit a guest to your session.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Nearo Rooms let you run a live one-to-one session using your personal Room link, so guests can join from any device without an account.

How Rooms work for hosts

Every host in Nearo has a dedicated Room that belongs to them.

Your Room link and Room code stay the same and can be shared with anyone you want to meet with. Guests can join from a computer, tablet, Chromebook, or phone using a web browser β€” no Nearo account or app required.

You must be in your Room before a guest can join. When a guest arrives, you will see a notification to admit them.

Opening your Room

To start your Room and make it available for guests:

  • Open the Nearo desktop app.

  • Click Open Room.

  • Your Room is now open and you can admit guests.

πŸ”” Guests cannot enter your Room until you have clicked Open Room and are present in the session.

Sharing your Room link and code

You can invite someone to join your Room by sharing your Room link or Room code.

  • Find your Room link and Room code in the Nearo desktop app or Dashboard.

  • Send the Room link to your guest β€” they can click it to open your Room in their browser.

  • Alternatively, share the Room code β€” guests can enter it manually in the app or in the join page.

πŸ’‘ Your Room link and code do not change, so you can share the same one with students or guests repeatedly.

Admitting a guest

When a guest joins your Room, they wait until you let them in.

  • When a guest is waiting, you will see a notification in your session.

  • Click Admit to let the guest into the Room.

  • The guest will appear in the session and the meeting will begin.

What you can do in a Room

As the host, you have access to all standard session features:

  • Audio and video with your guest

  • Share your screen so the guest can see what you are working on

  • Allow your guest to control your screen using remote control

πŸ”” In a Room, only the host can share a screen. Guests can see and control the host's screen but cannot share their own.

Closing your Room

To end the session and close your Room:

  • Click Close Room in the Nearo desktop app.

  • The session will end for both you and your guest.
