How audio works during a Nearo session

Audio in Nearo is live and two-way. Your microphone sends audio to the other participant, and your speakers or headphones play their audio back to you.

Adjusting audio during a call

When you are already in a live session, you can manage audio from the call controls.

  • Click the microphone icon to mute or unmute yourself.

  • Click the down arrow next to the microphone icon to change your microphone or speaker.

This is helpful if you plug in headphones, switch microphones, or need to adjust settings without leaving the session.

Adjusting audio in the Nearo desktop app

You can control your audio directly from the Nearo desktop app before or during a session.

  • Find the Audio button with a microphone icon.

  • Click the microphone icon to mute or unmute yourself.

  • Click the down arrow on the Audio button to choose a different microphone or speaker.

Your selected microphone and speaker will be used for Nearo sessions until you change them again.

When to check your audio settings

You may want to review your audio settings if:

  • The other person cannot hear you.

  • You cannot hear the other person.

  • You are using a new microphone, headset, or speaker.

If audio issues continue after checking your settings, a device permission or connection issue may be the cause, and troubleshooting may be needed.
