Whether you need the Nearo desktop app depends on your role and which connection method you are using.

If you are joining a Nearo Room as a guest, you can join using Google Chrome, Safari, or Microsoft Edge — no account, login, or app download is required.

Browser-based joining works on:

Your host will send you a Room link to use when joining.

Guests on a Mac or Windows computer can also join from the Nearo desktop app instead of a browser, and no Nearo account is required to do it.

Joining from the web is still the easiest way to join. Joining from the Nearo desktop app has one added benefit: guests can share their own screen, which they cannot do when they join from the web.

Hosting a Room requires the Nearo desktop app installed on a Mac or Windows computer. After you sign in, the Open my room button is at the bottom of the My room card on the home screen.

The Nearo desktop app is not available for phones, tablets, iPads, or Chromebooks.

Using Calls requires the Nearo desktop app installed on a Mac or Windows computer. Both participants must have the app installed and a Nearo account.
