Can I use Nearo in a web browser?

Guests joining a Room can use any browser on any device. Hosts and Call participants need the Desktop App.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Whether you need the Nearo Desktop App depends on your role and which connection method you are using.

Guests joining a Nearo Room

If you are joining a Nearo Room as a guest, you can join using any modern web browser β€” no account, login, or app download is required.

Browser-based joining works on:

  • Computers (Mac or Windows)

  • Chromebooks

  • iPads and other tablets

  • Phones (iOS or Android)

Your host will send you a Room link or Room code to use when joining.

Hosts and Call participants

The Nearo Desktop App is required to host a Room or to use Calls.

  • Hosts must open the Desktop App and click Open Room to start a Room session.

  • For Calls, both participants must have the Desktop App installed and a Nearo account.

The Desktop App is available for Mac and Windows computers only. It is not available for phones, tablets, iPads, or Chromebooks.

For instructions on downloading and installing the app, see Downloading and installing the Nearo app on Mac or Windows.
