Guests joining a Nearo Room can use any device. The Desktop App is required for hosts and for Calls.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

The answer depends on whether you are a host starting a session or a guest joining a Room.

Joining a Room as a guest

If you are joining a Nearo Room as a guest, you can use any device with a web browser β€” no app download or account is required.

Supported devices for guests:

  • Computers (Mac or Windows)

  • Chromebooks

  • iPads and other tablets

  • Phones (iOS or Android)

Guests can hear and speak with the host and see the host's screen when it is shared.

Remote control is supported on computers (Mac or Windows) and Chromebooks. It is not currently supported on tablets or phones.

Starting a session as a host

Hosts must use the Nearo Desktop App on a Mac or Windows computer, regardless of whether the session is a Room or a Call.

The Desktop App is not available for phones, tablets, iPads, or Chromebooks.

Using Calls

For Calls, both the host and the student must be on a Mac or Windows computer with the Nearo Desktop App installed. Calls are not supported on phones, tablets, iPads, or Chromebooks for either participant.
