When to Use This Article

  • You want to enable Self Check-in for the first time

  • You want to customize your Self Check-in form fields, appearance, or settings

  • You want to set up a QR code or shareable link for guests

  • You want to configure waitlist hours, geofencing, or repeat join rules

  • You want to understand what settings are available in Self Check-in

What Is Self Check-in?

With Self Check-in, guests join the wait on their own. Customize your intake form and share it via your website, a QR code, or a kiosk at your business. No app download required for guests.

Enabling Self Check-in

  1. Go to Settings, then select Self Check-in.

  2. Toggle on the Enable button.

  3. If you have multiple locations, toggle on Use Shared Settings to maintain the same configuration across all locations. Note: when Shared Settings is enabled, changes must be made from the Shared Settings page, which you can select from the dropdown at the top.

  4. Under Preview Your Self Check-in Form, click Preview or copy the link into a new browser tab to see exactly how the form appears to guests.

Important: at least one active queue is required for your Self Check-in form to appear to guests.

Customizing the Self Check-in Form

Appearance

  • Upload your business logo.

  • Customize the Location Display Name, Form Title, and Form Subtitle.

  • Set a Button Background Color and Button Text Color using hex values (e.g. #A4A4A4 - find your hex values here).

Form Fields

  • Choose which information guests are asked to provide at check-in (name, phone, custom fields, etc.).

  • Add Custom Fields to capture additional guest data relevant to your business.

Disclaimer Text

  • Enable Disclaimer Text to show a customizable message above the Submit button - useful for linking your privacy policy, data retention policies, or other content guests should see before submitting. Use the Insert Link button to add URLs inline.

SMS Terms Checkbox

  • All Self Check-in forms include a standard SMS opt-in terms checkbox that guests must accept to receive text messages. This is required for carrier compliance. If your business uses custom terms and conditions, those will appear alongside the standard language.

Additional Settings

Waitlist Hours

  • Define the days and times guests can join your waitlist via Self Check-in. Outside of these hours, the form is automatically disabled.

  • Toggle off Enable Waitlist Hours if you want the form to be joinable at all times.

Display Estimated Wait Times

  • Choose whether guests see wait times calculated per queue (select Queue) or for the entire location (select Location).

Default Queue

  • Set a default queue for guests when the queue selector field is turned off. Options are a specific queue or Next Available, which automatically places guests in the first queue with available capacity.

Limit Repeat Joins

  • When enabled, guests cannot join the waitlist more than once with the same phone number. They can rejoin once their existing party has expired off the waitlist (based on your Expiration Threshold setting).

Repeat Guest Recognition

  • When enabled, returning guests who enter their phone number will receive a one-time SMS code (2FA) to confirm their identity. Once confirmed, their form is prefilled with info from their last visit, speeding up check-in for repeat customers.

  • Requires the standard Phone field to be enabled on your form.

  • 2FA verification texts count toward your plan's message limit.

Geofence

  • Restrict Self Check-in to guests who are physically near your business. Set a custom radius between 0.5 and 10 miles.

  • Make sure your location address is up to date in Locations settings for accurate geofencing.

  • See the Enabling Location Services article for what guests need to do on their device.

QR Code and Sharing Your Form

  • At the bottom of the Self Check-in settings page, download your unique QR code and place it wherever guests will best access it - your front desk, a kiosk, a table tent, or your website.

  • Copy the form link directly to share it via text, email, your website, or digital signage.

FAQ

  1. Do guests need to download an app to use Self Check-in?

No. The Self Check-in form opens in any mobile browser. Guests do not need to download anything. All communication after they join is done via SMS text message.

  2. Can a guest join the waitlist more than once?

By default, yes. If you want to prevent this, enable Limit Repeat Joins in your Self Check-in Settings. When active, guests with the same phone number cannot rejoin until their existing party has expired off the waitlist.

  3. Why isn't my Self Check-in form showing up?

The most common cause is that no queues are active. At least one queue must be enabled for the form to appear. Also confirm that Self Check-in is toggled on and that your Waitlist Hours include the current time (or that Waitlist Hours are disabled).

  4. Can I restrict Self Check-in to guests who are physically at my location?

Yes. Enable the Geofence setting and set your preferred radius (0.5 to 10 miles). Guests who are outside the radius will not be able to submit the form. Make sure your location address is current for accurate results.

  5. Can I use Self Check-in across multiple locations?

Yes. Enable Use Shared Settings to apply the same configuration across all your locations, or configure each location independently by selecting the location from the dropdown at the top of the settings page.

  6. What is the SMS terms checkbox on the Self Check-in form?

All forms include a required opt-in checkbox so guests consent to receiving SMS texts from your business. This is a carrier compliance requirement and cannot be removed. If your business has custom terms and conditions, those appear alongside the standard language.
