How to Create and Box an FBA Shipment in Shipyard
Shipyard supports two flexible workflows for shipment creation: Flow A and Flow B. Depending on your use case—such as shipment type, boxing method, or barcode preferences—you'll choose the flow that best fits your needs.
Step 1: Start Your Shipment
You can start planning a shipment in one of two ways:
Option 1: From Shipments > Plan Shipment
Paste individual SKUs and quantities into the input field.
Or click the ➕ button to paste a tab-delimited list from your spreadsheet (one column for SKUs, another for quantities).
Option 2: From Replenish Page
Open the Replenish page.
Click the suggested number shown on the Replenish grid.
Or search for a SKU and enter your own replenishment quantity.
Click Select Action > Plan Shipment.
Step 2: Set Prep and Expiration (for both Flows)
Before planning your shipment, make sure each SKU has:
A Prep Category and Prep Type
An Expiration Date if required by Amazon
You can do this in bulk using the options on the right/left side of the SKU list.
Choose Your Workflow
🔁 Flow A: Box First, Plan Later (Send to Amazon style)
Flow A is required if you're using:
2D Barcodes (to label as you pack)
Case-Packed Shipments
Small Parcel Delivery (SPD) like UPS or FedEx
To start Flow A:
Click Switch to Flow A (top-right of the Plan page).
Then click Plan & Box.
💡 Tip:
If your items are packed the same way each time, open another tab and go to Replenish > Select Action > Update Bulk, download the template, and add:
SKU
Case Quantity
Box Weight & Dimensions
This enables one-click box creation later.
Boxing in Flow A:
Use "Box All Using Case Quantity" to automatically box items.
Or drag SKUs (individually or in groups) into boxes manually.
As you drag, a set of box options will appear—pick what works best.
Once boxes are created, click Plan All to initiate the shipment plan.
While Shipyard communicates with Amazon, this can take a minute or two. You can leave the page—Shipyard will notify you via popup and email when it’s ready.
After that, select your desired shipping option (Single or Optimized Shipments) and click Create All.
Once the shipment is created:
Click the Shipment ID to open your shipment.
Proceed to Prep & Ship to finalize and print labels or select a shipping method (Amazon partnered or your own trucker).
If using your own trucker, you can provide tracking or a PRO number.
📦 Flow B: Plan First, Box Later (Classic Shipyard)
Flow B is the default flow and best used when:
You're shipping pallets
Items are individually packed
Once your SKUs are entered and prep/expiration is set:
Click Plan Selected to begin the plan.
When results are back, choose your shipment type and click Create All.
Once the shipment is created:
Click the Shipment ID to open the shipment.
Inside the shipment, create boxes (manually or in bulk).
Submit box content.
Click Prep & Ship to finalize and select your shipping method.
If using your own trucker, you can provide tracking or a PRO number.
