I’m expecting money, but it hasn’t shown up

Learn how long transfers take and what to do if yours is delayed.

Updated today

We know it can be stressful when money doesn’t show up as expected. Most of the time, it’s just a timing issue - different transfer types take different amounts of time to arrive.

How long do transfers usually take “In Transit”?

The time it takes to receive a transfer depends on the type of payment rail that was used to complete the transfer.

  • From another account with us: Instant.

  • FPS (GBP transfers within the UK): same working day

  • SWIFT / international wire transfers: 2–5 working days.

  • ACH: within 1-2 working days. Sometimes after if the payment is scheduled on a specific date. Usually credited at the end of the nearest working day.

Some ACH transfers might appear in your nsave account as "In transit" but are not credited to your balance - don't worry, this means they will be cleared and credited at the end of the working day.

Wait until the next morning, and if you still face the same issue, feel free to contact us on support!

Factors Influencing Delays

While the timelines above provide a general expectation, the following factors might extend these durations:

  • Bank Holidays: Processing times may be affected when payments are initiated or scheduled during public holidays. This is particularly significant for ACH, SEPA, and SWIFT.

  • High Transaction Volume: During periods of high activity (e.g., end-of-month payroll or festive seasons), processing queues may lead to delays.

  • Intermediary Banks in SWIFT Transfers: Transfers that involve multiple banks might require additional checks, leading to extended processing times.

What should I check first?

If it's been longer than the expected timeline, and you still haven't received your funds on nsave, here are some things you should do.

1. Ask the sender for:

  • The estimated delivery time they were given.

  • A payment confirmation showing the date and amount of the transfer, and the banking details of the account that the payment was sent to.

A payment confirmation or an MT103 will be very important for us to look into any issues related to incoming transactions, as we have limited visibility on transactions that we haven't received yet.

2. Double-check details with the sender:

  • Was your IBAN/account number used?

  • Do the account details exactly match your name and account?

  • Was the correct currency and transfer method used?

When should I contact support?

If the expected time has passed and your money still hasn’t arrived:

  • Wait at least 2 working days for SEPA or 5 working days for SWIFT/international transfers.

  • Then, contact us and include the proof of payment from the sender.

    • 👉 Without this document, we won’t be able to trace the funds.
