Nugit pulls in data via APIs in two ways:
Real-time requests (for a few specific metrics)
Real-time requests are made for metrics that need unique platform user IDs to calculate, such as Users and New Users from Google Analytics, and Reach and Frequency from Facebook Ads.
Daily backfill
'Backfill' means data from yesterday (or earlier) is pulled in by Nugit, and added to any previous data Nugit already pulled. After you connect and upon activation, Nugit will backfill data from the 1st January of the previous year, or the first date it contains, whichever is more recent, up until yesterday’s date.
To manage backfilled data, you'll first need to have your datasources connected to Nugit. See 'How do I connect my API datasources?' to learn how to connect new sources.
This article will explain two ways you can manage backfilled data in Data Factory:
Activate/Start backfilling a datasource
Check available data in a datasource
If you’d like to learn about backfilling a datasource using the ‘Refresh’ button, check this article
Step-by-step: How to activate (start backfilling) a datasource
In Data Factory, use the search bar and/or filters to find the source you want to activate. (If you've connected a platform but don't see your source, this means you don't have Admin access. Contact an Admin from your team or Nugit support for help activating sources.)
Click 'Activate' under the 'Action' column on the right.
Your datasource status will change from 'Not Activated' to 'Queued for Import' or 'Importing'.
When all data available is ready, the status will be 'Available'. (Note that some data may already be accessible in stories even if the status is not yet 'Available'.)
Once your datasource is activated and available, you can check the data in Data Factory.
Step-by-step: How to check available data in a datasource
If you'd like to check what data is in a source without having to add it to a story, you can do this in Data Factory. Click 'Settings' in the 'Actions' column.
Choose the metric and breakdowns (date, week, etc.) you'd like to check by clicking the underlined options in the menu on the right.
Select the date range you'd like to check by hovering over the graph and clicking the calendar icon.
You'll also be able to see the earliest (First Active) and latest (Last Active) dates there is data available in the source you selected.
If your datasource has no data at all inside it at the point in time it is activated, Nugit will consider it 'inactive' and will not automatically check for new data every day. If your inactive source later starts having data that you'd like to show on Nugit, contact Nugit support for help in starting automatic backfill.
Additionally, if a datasource has no new data for the past 90 days, daily backfill will stop. To pull data onto Nugit after activity starts again, get in touch with the Nugit team via the Live chat on the Nugit platform and specify the exact name of the datasource you would like to reactivate.
If you’re unable to see data or are finding discrepancies in data, here’s how you can refresh your data.
