Overview
Integrating QuickBooks Online with Nuvo unlocks additional features designed to save time and improve decision-making:
View credit insights from payment history data in QuickBooks Online: Visualize every customer's credit utilization percentage, Days Sales Outstanding (DSO), A/R aging analytics, and more in one place.
Push customer data to QuickBooks Online: Automate the setup of customer accounts and avoid manual, time-consuming, and error-prone data entry.
Sync payment terms & credit limits: Push updates to payment terms and credit limits from Nuvo's approval portal directly into QuickBooks Online.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, ensure the following:
You have administrator access to your QuickBooks Online company.
Your QuickBooks Online subscription is active (Essentials, Plus, or Advanced).
You are able to authorize third-party applications in your Intuit account settings.
Required Permissions
When you connect QuickBooks Online to Nuvo, Intuit will ask you to authorize the following scopes:
Authorization Scope | Description |
| Full access to QuickBooks Online accounting data (customers, invoices, payments, estimates, payment terms) |
| Full access to payment transaction data (Nuvo only reads) |
These permissions are granted automatically during the OAuth authorization flow — you do not need to configure them manually.
Specifically, Nuvo uses these scopes to access the following QuickBooks Online data:
QuickBooks Entity | Access Level | What Nuvo Uses It For |
Customers | Read + Write | Pull existing customers into Nuvo; push new/updated customer records, addresses, and email back to QuickBooks |
Invoices | Read | Pull invoices for A/R aging analytics and credit insights |
Payments | Read | Pull payments for DSO calculations and payment history analytics |
Estimates (Sales Orders) | Read | Pull estimates for credit utilization and order history reporting |
Payment Terms | Read | Pull payment terms to map to Nuvo's approval workflows |
Integration Steps
Step One: Navigate to Integrations in Nuvo
Log in to your Nuvo account at https://www.nuvo.com.
Go to Settings > Integrations.
Under ERP, click Connect a New Account and select QuickBooks Online.
Step Two: Authorize Nuvo in QuickBooks
After clicking Connect, you will be redirected to Intuit's authorization page.
Sign in to your Intuit/QuickBooks account if prompted.
Select the QuickBooks company you want to connect (if you have access to multiple companies).
Review the permissions Nuvo is requesting and click Connect to authorize.
You will be redirected back to Nuvo. The connection status will update to Connected.
Note: Nuvo uses OAuth 2.0 for authentication, which is Intuit's recommended and most secure method. Your QuickBooks password is never shared with or stored by Nuvo — only secure authorization tokens are used.
Step Three: Wait for Initial Sync
Once connected, Nuvo will begin syncing your QuickBooks data automatically:
Payment Terms are synced first.
Customers (including addresses and email) are synced next.
Estimates (sales orders), Invoices, and Payments follow.
Your first data sync may take a few minutes to a few hours depending on the volume of data in your QuickBooks account. Check back soon!
After the initial sync, Nuvo performs incremental syncs — only records that have been created or updated since the last sync are pulled, keeping your data current without redundant processing.
Managing Your Connection
Viewing Connection Status
Go to Settings > Integrations in Nuvo.
Under QuickBooks Online, you will see:
Connected status badge
The date and time of the last successful sync
Disconnecting
On the same page, click the Disconnect button.
Confirm the disconnection when prompted.
This removes the stored authorization tokens. Your data in QuickBooks is not affected.
To reconnect, simply follow the integration steps above again.
Troubleshooting
"Authorization failed" or redirect error: Ensure you are signing in with an Intuit account that has administrator access to the QuickBooks company. Pop-up blockers may also interfere with the OAuth redirect — try disabling them temporarily.
"Connection expired": QuickBooks OAuth tokens can expire if not used for an extended period. Go to Settings > Integrations, disconnect, and reconnect to re-authorize.
Missing data after sync: Nuvo only syncs active records. Archived or deleted customers, invoices, and payments in QuickBooks will not appear in Nuvo. Also verify that the data exists in the specific QuickBooks company you connected.
"403 Forbidden" or permission errors: The Intuit user who authorized the connection may not have sufficient permissions. Reconnect using a QuickBooks administrator account.
Sync appears stuck: If the last sync time has not updated for an extended period, try disconnecting and reconnecting. If the issue persists, contact Nuvo support.
