Using job boards

Free Boards:

  • When posting a job free boards are automatically set to on

  • When posting a new job, select the job board to turn it on or off if you then click on the next step

  • When posting jobs on major job boards adhering to each platform's specific guidelines is crucial for ensuring your roles are visible and attractive to potential candidates.

Sometimes, job postings may not be visible because they do not comply with these guidelines. For instance, job titles and descriptions that are vague, misleading, or overly complicated can result in reduced visibility. 🚫 Additionally, practices such as reposting the same job multiple times or not providing enough detail about the job can lead to the job being flagged or even removed. ❌

    Job Posting Best Practices:

    Job Titles 📢:

A job title should attract your ideal candidate's attention and clearly describe the role. This improves online searchability, reducing barriers to entry and attracting a wider pool of candidates. Avoid using irrelevant language such as "Hiring Now!" as it can lead to rejection by job board partners and negatively impact the candidate experience.

    - Keep it short: Aim for 10 to 35 characters.

    - Avoid capital letters: Titles in all capital letters don’t rank well.

    - No special characters: Easier to read and search.

    - Be clear: Use common terms like "JavaScript Developer" instead of jargon like “Ninja” or “Jedi”.

    - Avoid internal titles: Use clear and descriptive titles, not internal abbreviations.

    Job Descriptions 📝

Effective job descriptions are concise but detailed, typically between 700 and 2000 words.

    - Start strong: Begin with an engaging paragraph.

    - Be honest: Describe the role’s responsibilities accurately.

    - Detail daily tasks: Outline day-to-day responsibilities.

    - List requirements: Clearly state required skills and preferences.

    - Explain the role: Show how the job fits within the company.

    - Include location and company name: Be specific, avoid terms like “national”.

    - Show company culture: Highlight benefits, salary, schedule, and perks.

    - Format for readability: Use bullet points and break up large text blocks.

    Job Location 📍

Location details are crucial for visibility and relevance in search algorithms.

    - Be specific: Include country, city, state/province, and zip/postal code, even for remote jobs.

    - Clarify work location: State if the job is remote, hybrid, or in-person.

    - Capitalize location names: Ensure city and state/province names are capitalized correctly.

    - Avoid spamming: Don’t post the same job in multiple cities to prevent blacklisting.

    Remote Jobs 🏠

For remote positions, follow specific guidelines to accurately represent the job location (it should always specify the country and city) and work expectations.

For detailed guidelines and best practices, refer to the specific guidelines provided by each job board:

Adhering to these guidelines not only enhances the visibility of your job postings but also ensures a smoother and more effective recruitment process. 🚀✨
