In June 2024, Bambu Labs released a Firmware update for all of the Bambu Lab 3D prints that block third-party tools and services from connecting to the printers locally.
As a workaround, you can now allow OctoEverywhere's Bambu Connect plugin to access your printer through the Bambu Cloud. The initial setup of Bambu Connect is different, but there's no other impact on OctoEverywhere's Bambu Connect. The remote access, advanced AI print failure detection, and notifications all work as expected!
All you need for the OctoEverywhere Bambu Connect plugin to connect with Bambu Cloud is your Bambu Cloud account email address and password.
Your Bambu Cloud account email and password are stored locally, encrypted on disk, and never sent to OctoEverywhere's servers. We went to great lengths to ensure your Bambu Cloud account remains safe and secure.
If you use your Google, Facebook, or Apple account to login to the Bambu Cloud, you will need to create an account password:
Login to the Bambu Handy mobile app using the 3rd party login provider.
Tap the person icon at the bottom right.
Tap
Account Security
->Change Password
This will allow you to set a password. You can then use your email address and password with Bambu Connect.
You can still connect Bambu Connect directly to your Bambu Lab 3D printer with Bambu Cloud, but you must enable "LAN Only Mode" on the printer, which will disable the Bambu Cloud on your 3D printer.
In LAN Only Mode, you can still use Bambu Studio and Bambu Handy on the same network as your Bambu Lab 3D printer.
Once you have your Bambu Cloud account ready, you can set up Bambu Connect!
