Learn how to use the Handy Onboarding App

To go alongside Firmware 4, we released a new app with the goal of streamlining and empowering the onboarding of new and old users.

The app is able to connect your device, test connection, use remote control and gather device information as well.


How to connect

When you first open the app, you will see instructions on how to enable your device to be found by your app, there are instruction for the Oh! and the Handy.

Once your device is ready to be found, click on Search for devices at the bottom of the app.

If done correctly, the button will change to signal that it is looking for devices and you cancel out of it, if necessary.

Depending on which device it found, a window will appear with information on the device it was able to find, this also changes the interface based on which device is connected.


In case you connect with a Handy

Once a Handy is found, it will appear on the bottom of the screen, which you can then click on Connect so you can pair your device to the app.

Once it connects, you should now see the main menu, which now showcases some information for you:

(For clarity purposes each area has been labeled with numbers for this article.)

1) Here you can find identifying information about your device, such as the Serial Number, and UID.

2) Here you can find connection information such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and Servers connectivity.

3) Here you can find your Connection Key, to improve readability for the key's characters we made so uppercase letter are bolded and numbers are in red.

4) Here you can find a button to quickly share the connection key


In case you connect with a Oh!

Once a Oh! is found, it will appear on the bottom of the screen, which you can then click on Connect so you can pair your device to the app.

Once it connects, you should now see the main menu, which now showcases some information for you:

3) Here you can find your Connection Key, to improve readability for the key's characters we made so uppercase letter are bolded and numbers are in red.

4) Here you can find a button to quickly share the connection key


Please be sure to note down or save your connection key somewhere, you will need it to go online on either device.


What can you do once connected?

Now that your device is connected, let's take a look at your options.

1) This option sends you to handyfeeling.com so you can use your device online

2) Settings allows you to configure your device in a multitude of ways

3) Configure Wi-Fi or Change Wi-Fi will allow you to configure or change the saved network of your device so it can go online

4) Audio mode, exclusive to the Oh!, enables you to use audio with your device.

5) Info brings up a multitude of information about your device, useful for diagnostics when contacting support or troubleshooting issues.

6) Test Wi-Fi will start a quick test of your network to verify if you device is able to connect online and to Handy Servers

7) Remote Control operates similar to the one on handyfeeling.com/remote, here you can control the device via the on-screen controls


Settings menu

This menu allows you to configure behaviors for your device and what kind of data you want to share

At the top of the page, under Boot mode, you can configure in which mode you device defaults to whenever you turn on your device.

In the Online section you can configure options related to which kind of servers you connect, keep in mind that some of these changes can affect the quality of your connection

At the bottom of the page, under Privacy, you can find options for data sharing and a brief explanation of what they are used for


Configuring or changing Wi-Fi settings

Once you click on the button to configure Wi-Fi, you will be able to start searching a network, then it will list available networks on the bottom of the screen.

You also connect to a custom network at the bottom of the screen.

After selecting your network, you can then input the password and connect.


Test Wi-Fi

To make sure the network correctly configured, you can use the Test Wi-Fi option to verify the status of both your network and the Handy servers

Once you click, a quick window will appear on the top, if a step is successful it will turn green, once they both turn green and the bar above finishes loading the test is done!


The Side Menu

On the top left of the app you can find a Menu button with a few more options.

A side bar will open with new options and information for you:

1) New Device: This allows you to connect a new device that you own to the app

2) Set language: This allows you to change the language of the app

3) Oh button instructions: This opens a quick video to help you better understand what each button on your Oh! does.

4) Help center: Links you directly to the main page of this help center.

At the very bottom of the side menu, you can find the version information for the app itself.

By clicking on Release Notes you can find a detailed list of changes.


Info, what is in there?

In the Info window you can find a information regarding to your device, to your network and more.

Usually this window is used for diagnosing issues and troubleshooting.

Remote Control

This works exactly like the one in handyfeeling.com/remote, you can control the speed, stroke length and more. Once you click on the button, a new window will pop up with the controls
