Once you have set up Gift Cards, you can sell them via the Box Office portal or allow patrons to purchase them via your OTS website or embedded widget.
Selling Gift Cards in the Box Office Portal
Once you have set up your gift card, you can start selling to patrons using the box office portal. Gift cards can be purchased with cash or credit card. Any fees assessed are paid by the purchaser so the gift card can be redeemed for the full face value.
Open the box office portal by clicking Box Office > Purchase in the left side menu.
Scroll down to the Gift Cards section of the page.
Select the amount from the preset values or, if enabled, input a custom value. The preset values will match the order set in the setup tab.
Note: 'Other' amount must be a whole dollar value whether through patron or box office purchase.
Add the Recipient’s Name, recipient’s email and an optional personal message from the purchasing patron in the input fields.
You can choose to send the gift card as soon as the payment is completed or schedule the email with the gift card for another day (a birthday, anniversary, etc).
Click Schedule to view the Send Date and Send Time input fields.
Choose a date and time to create a schedule for the email to the recipient.
Once everything is set, click Add to Cart.
The gift card will be added to the cart with the recipient's email address shown.
A gift card order can't hold anything else. If tickets or other items are already in the cart you'll see "Cannot add a gift card with other items in cart!", and once a card is in the cart the ticket and add-on controls are disabled. Clear the cart first. You cannot use a promo code on a gift card purchase.
The recipient's patron profile will be updated with a Gift Card Recipient tag and a gift card tab.
The recipient also receives an email with the subject line 'Patron sent you a gift card to Organization Name!' which will fill in with the purchasing patron's first and last name and the name of your organization.
The email body looks like this:
It shows the recipient's name, value of the gift card, name of the purchaser, and the gift card code. The purchaser also receives a standard Order Confirmation email.
Patrons Purchasing Gift Cards Online
Patrons can also purchase gift cards via your production site, org site, or the gift card widget.
With gift cards enabled, a gift card page will be added to your show site and org site allowing patrons to choose the gift card amount and input the Recipient name, email address, and a personal message.
Patrons can also choose to send the gift card immediately after purchase or schedule for another date and time.
You can update the styling for the gift card widget on the Widget Configuration > Settings page on the Gift Cards tab.
