When setting up a fundraising campaign you can choose from two types of fundraising styles (or even allow both!).
Fundraising with Inventory for Targeted Support:
Donors tend to give more when they know what they are paying for! This is a "wedding registry" type of fundraiser that allows your donors to sponsor individual items needed to make your production everything it should be! From the main fundraising page, the items will be visible under the Support Us tab highlighted below.
General Fundraising:
This type of fundraiser is for general support meaning the donations are not for specific items. From the main fundraising page, the donation buttons with their corresponding monetary amounts can be found by clicking on the Donate Here tab highlighted below.
The blue monthly donation icons correspond with a recurring donation amounts. When selected, the patron will be notified that they are setting up a reoccurring donation schedule that will automatically charge their card once a month for a year.
The gold One-Time Donation icon corresponds with entering a one time donation of any amount selected by the patron. This is NOT a recurring donation.
🎓 Recap:
This article explains the difference between targeted and general fundraising campaigns. Targeted campaigns focus on specific needs, such as new equipment or travel costs, while general support campaigns help with overall operations. The key takeaway is that both approaches are valuable, but they require different messaging and strategies to maximize effectiveness.
🚀 Best Practices:
Define Your Goal: Clearly distinguish between targeted and general fundraising needs to craft a compelling message.
Tell a Story: Use real examples and testimonials to connect donors emotionally to the cause.
Customize Messaging: Tailor outreach to highlight the urgency and impact of specific vs. general donations.
Engage Different Audiences: Targeted campaigns often attract niche donors, while general campaigns appeal to broader supporters.
Show Impact: Provide updates on how funds are used, whether for a specific project or general operations.
Use Multi-Channel Outreach: Promote across email, social media, and in-person events to maximize reach.
