👟Walk Through

Creating Sections

Click on CREATE NEW SECTION.

2. Select Row or Table.

3. Name the section.

4. Enter how many rows are in the section, or if you selected Table, how many seats are at the table.

The example above reflects a venue with 10 rows, and 10 seats in each row. Make sure to enter the highest number or rows your venue has.

Next indicate if you need to skip any of the following rows: I, L, or O.

Creating Tables

The table above would have 10 seats. For tables, the First Row letter will be the first letter on the seat. For example, my above settings would have my table seats labeled A1, A2, A3, etc.

5. Select your first row letter. For example, if your venue has rows A,B,C,D, etc., you would choose A. If your venue has rows AA, BB, CC, DD, etc., you would start with AA.

6. Enter the first seat number. For example, if the seats in this section are 1-10, enter 1. If they are 100-110, enter 100.

7. Select the number you want the seat numbers to increase by. If you seat numbers increase by 1, enter 1. If your seat numbers increase by 2 or 3 (for a venue that has sections with seats that are odd numbers and even numbers), enter the desired amount.

8. Choose the direction you would like the seats to reflect. Options are House Left to House Right, or House Right to House Left.

9. Push Create.

10. Repeat this process for all sections needed to complete your seating chart.

🎓 Recap

This article explains how to create a new section within your seating chart using the On The Stage seating chart builder. Simply click Create a New Section, choose the section type (Reserved or General Admission), and name it. After adding the section, you can configure rows, labels, and seating types for that area. Don’t forget to save your changes so the new section is active and available for assignment in your event setup.

🚀 Best Practices for Adding New Seating Chart Sections

  1. 🆕 Clearly name your new section
Choose intuitive names like GA Floor, Mezzanine, or Balcony Left to keep lineup accuracy and administration simple.

  2. 🎫 Select the correct section type
Designate whether it’s General Admission or Reserved Seating at creation—this affects ticketing behavior and layout options.

  3. Configure rows and seating immediately
Add rows or seat numbers to your new section right after creation to ensure it's functional and reporting-ready.

  4. 💾 Save after every update
Always click Save Seating Chart after creating or editing a section to ensure your changes persist and are applied live.
