Building Tables and Seats On Your Stage

Hosting a dinner theater? Have VIP stage seating? This article will show you the proper way to build it.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Noteworthy๐ŸŽญ: You CANNOT build seats or tables directly on the stage. Doing so will make the seats nonfunctional. You must follow the steps outlined below and begin by placing a rectangle over the prebuilt stage.

๐Ÿ‘ŸWalk Through

  • Begin by sizing your prebuilt OTS stage to the desired size.

  • Next, right click and select "Add Rectangle". Create a rectangle shape that covers the prebuilt OTS stage.

  • Click "Save Seating Chart".

  • Next, create a table by clicking on "CREATE A NEW SECTION" and add your table parameters. Drag your newly created table to the desired location on the white stage.

Repeat until you have added your desired number of tables and rows.

  • Please note on the stage preview, the seats will be greyed out.

  • The seats will be purchasable on your main ticketing site landing page.

๐ŸŽ“ Recap: Building Tables & Seats on your Stage

If you're setting up tables or VIP seating on your stage using On The Stage, avoid placing seats or tables directly onto the prebuilt stage area โ€” doing so will break functionality. Instead, first resize the stage to your preferred dimensions, then overlay a rectangle shape across it. After saving the chart, use Create a New Section to define your tables and then drag them into place. While the seats will appear grayed out in the editor, they will be fully functional and purchasable on your live ticketing page.

๐Ÿš€ Best Practices: Building Tables & Seats on your Stage

  1. โฌœ Always overlay with a rectangle shape first โ€“ This step ensures added tables and seats remain functional and donโ€™t get invalidated.

  2. ๐Ÿ” Resize the stage before adding elements โ€“ Matching your actual stage dimensions ensures ticket buyers see an accurate layout.

  3. ๐Ÿ†• Use sections to manage tables โ€“ Creating new sections makes it easier to organize and position tables flexibly.

  4. ๐Ÿ‘€ Preview as greyed-out, but trust the live site โ€“ While seats look inactive during editing, they become fully interactive and purchasable once published.
