OTS has launched our new and improved promo code builder. We changed some verbiage around; take a look at the table below to see the name changes. Then jump below to learn about the new builder!

Old Name

New Name

Function

Maximum $ Off

Maximum amount off

This amount is the maximum amount off of an order/ticket a promo code will take.

I.E. A promo code is 50% off an entire order with a maximum amount off of $10.
If an order is $30, and the 50% off promo code with the limit is applied - the new order total will be $20 (their total would be $15 without this limit).

Minimum $ Off

Minimum order value

The minimum order value is the minimum order value in cart before a promo code can be applied.

I.E. A promo code is 50% off an entire order with a minimum order value of $10. If an order is $5, and a patron tries to apply the code, it will not work (their total would be $2.50 without this limit).

Minimum number of tickets

Minimum number of tickets in the cart

The minimum number of tickets in cart is the minimum amount of tickets in a patron’s cart that must be present before a promo code can be used.

I.E. A promo code is 50% off an entire order with a minimum number of 2 tickets in a cart. If a patron has a single ticket in their cart, this promo code will not work.

Maximum total redemptions

Maximum total redemptions

The amount of times overall a promo code can be used. If it can be used an unlimited amount of times, this can be left blank.

How to Use the Promo Code Feature:

1.When applying a promo code - you can select what category of ticket or item you wish to apply it to.

  • All tickets means each ticket in an order individually.

  • Ticket type(s) refers to specific ticket tiers on an event (i.e. Child or Adult).

  • Entire order means an entire cart subtotal.
(Add-on and Add-on category are forthcoming - they will be discounts on items and categories of item an organization has for sale.

2. One new feature is the production and performance selector. If you choose any 'Applies to' type BUT ticket types - you will be able to apply a promo code to a specific production.

3. Click on the Select Productions dropdown to choose which production to apply the promo code to.

4. Check as many as you wish from the list. If you don't wish to apply a promo code to a specific production, you do not have to check these boxes. If you do choose productions - the promo code will not be eligible for any production not selected.

5. If you wish to apply a promo code to production dates beginning on a specific date, you can enter a Start date & time. Any performances before the date you choose will not be eligible for this promotion.

  • Here, all performances after November 28 are selected.

6. If you wish to include an end time for your promo code, enter an End date & time.

  • Here, I am selecting March 30. This means that this promo code will only be eligible for performances of selected productions between November 28 and March 30.

7. To get even more specific with your promo code, you can choose days and hours to apply your promo code to. For instance - if you just want your promo code to apply to weekend evening performances, you can choose those dates and hours here.

8. Click on Select All to choose all days, or use the checkboxes to choose any you wish.

  • Here, I've selected only Tuesdays.

9. Last - I am using the hours dropdown to select performance times. By selecting only 11:05 and 12:05- this means on 11:05 am and 12:05 pm performances only will be eligible for the promo code.

10. To review: I have selected Seussical and the Spring Dance Show productions. I have set the start and end dates/times for my promo code, and configured it to only be available on 11:05 and 12:05 performance times on Tuesdays within those given dates.

  • This promo code would then be ineligible for any performance times outside of these parameters (i.e. an April performance of Seussical, a performance of Seussical on a Wednesday in December, a performance of Seussical on a Tuesday in December at 6 pm)

  • With these selectors, there is a great amount of flexibility with your codes (i.e. You can make a code for all productions on Tuesdays only, you can make a code for 8 pm productions, you can make a code for all productions/times that start in December, you can make a code for any production/performance until June 1.)

11. The other new feature is the availability window. When setting an availability window, you are setting the time in which the promo code can be used. I.e. If you want to run a 'Christmas in July' sale, make the availability window from July 1 to July 31.

12. Use the date/time selectors to choose a start and end date/time.

13. This is my availability window - I have made it for November 28 at 1:59 pm to December 31st and 1:59 pm. This means if someone tries to use the code on January 1st, they will receive an error.

In combination - availability windows and production/performance selectors can enable producers to give out specific, limited time only promo codes for the specific events they wish to promote.

Promo codes are not editable but can removed and rebuilt as needed.
