Which editor is this for? This guide covers the new Site Editor. You are in the right place if your toolbar has a Media button and your assistant is called Ellie. If it does not, you are on the Site Tuner — see the Site Tuner guides instead.
Your services and service areas do more than fill a list. They shape which pages exist on your site and the local wording the assistant uses, so they are worth getting right early.
Both live under Settings, in the Knowledge group.
Services
Open Settings › Services. You need at least one service; the more accurate the list, the better your site can be tuned for local search.
Type a service into the box at the top, for example Lawn Care.
Add it to the list.
Remove anything you no longer offer with the bin icon on its row.
A running count of your services is shown beside the box.
Keep the list to work you actually want enquiries about. A service you list but rarely take on will still attract calls.
Service areas
Open Settings › Service Areas and add the cities, counties or neighbourhoods you serve. Local customers search for a trade plus a place, so this is what connects you to them.
Type a location into the box, for example City, State.
Add it to the list. A running count is shown beside the box.
Remove an area with the bin icon on its row.
Your primary area
One area can be marked as your main one. Click Mark as Primary Area on the row you want, and it changes to a Primary Area badge. Marking a different area moves the badge across — there is only ever one.
Choose the place you most want to be found in, not necessarily the one where your office happens to be.
Getting the most out of them
Once both lists are accurate, you can ask the assistant to put them to work, for example: Work my services and service areas naturally into my key pages so I show up in local searches. The draft comes back for review in the usual way.
