Which editor is this for? This guide covers the new Site Editor. You are in the right place if your toolbar has a Media button and your assistant is called Ellie. If it does not, you are on the Site Tuner — see the Site Tuner guides instead.
The preview in the middle of the Site Editor is your real website. You can move around it freely and check how it behaves on a phone before anything goes live.
Moving between pages
Use the Page: dropdown in the toolbar. It lists every page on your site, with a tick beside the one you are viewing, and groups your service and location pages under expandable headings.
A typical list looks like this:
Home
Contact Us
Privacy Policy
About, Services and Service Areas — each expands to the pages underneath it
You can also click through your site's own navigation menu inside the preview, exactly as a visitor would. Both work; the dropdown is quicker when you know where you are going.
Desktop, tablet and mobile
The screen icon in the toolbar opens Change preview size.
Option | What you see |
Desktop | The full-width layout, as on a laptop. This is the default. |
Tablet | The layout at tablet width. |
Mobile | The page inside a phone frame, including the collapsed menu and the tap-to-call button. |
Most of your visitors will arrive on a phone, so it is worth switching to Mobile before you accept a change to a headline. Wording that reads well across a wide screen can run long on a narrow one.
Previewing without the editor
The icon beside the preview size control is Preview site. It shows your site on its own, without the editor around it — the closest thing to seeing it as a visitor will.
Undo and redo
While you have a draft from Ellie open for review, undo and redo arrows appear in the toolbar so you can step back and forward through your changes.
