Send a text using LocalMessages

LocalMessages offers a powerful way to interact with your customers over their preferred medium - text message. Connect with your clients when they’re on the go to remind them of upcoming appointments, confirm the details of a project, or answer questions/inquiries.

How to send a new text message to your client:

1. Log into your OneLocal account here.

2. Click the LocalMessages tab.

3. Click New Message in the top right corner of the screen.

4. If your client is already saved in LocalContacts, you can find them by typing in their First Name and selecting them from the drop-down menu that appears below. If they are not yet in your contacts, you'll need to start by entering their mobile phone number. Keep in mind that you can only send messages via SMS text in LocalMessages, email is not supported at this time.

If not, you will be prompted to create a new contact. All you need is the client’s first name and phone number!

5. Once you’ve selected the client you’d like to text, a messaging thread will open. If you’ve previously texted this client (or sent them a LocalReviews request) you will be able to see a conversation history.

If this is your very first time messaging this client (and you’ve never sent them a LocalReviews request), there will be no conversation history.

6. To send a new text, click into the text box that says “Type your message…” and begin typing.

Keep in mind, you’ll be able to see a character count below. Each text message can contain up to 160 characters but you’ll be able to keep track of the number of text messages your message will require (for example, a 180-character message will be sent over 2 consecutive text messages).

7. Click Send or Send and Close (if you’d like to archive the message thread, don’t worry it will reopen if your client responds or you can manually reopen it at any time!)

8. Your message has been sent! You will see a full conversation history with each client by selecting the appropriate conversation from the left sidebar.
