If you have LocalReviews or LocalSEO, your Google Business Profile (GBP) listing will play an important part in OneLocal's efforts to improve your online presence. We need to make sure your GBP listing is correctly set up and verified, and that OneLocal has access to it.

Google offers the ability to create a GBP listing for your business even if you don't have a physical storefront for your business. If this is the case for your business, we advise you to create a service-area business listing so you don't have to display your residential address online.

We'll discuss how to:

  • Create a service-area GBP Listing

  • Change your existing GBP listing to a service-area listing

Creating a Service-Area GBP Listing

To create a service-area business listing:

  1. Log in to your GBP account. If you need help creating one, reference our support article here and scroll down to the 'How to Create a New Google Business Profile' section.

  2. In your GBP account, click 'Manage Locations'. Next, click 'Add Location', and click 'Add single location' on the drop-down menu that appears.

  3. Search for your GBP listing with the name that appears in Google Maps.

  4. If your listing hasn't been created yet, enter your name and click "Create a business with this name"; or, if it already exists, click on your listing. After either case, follow the prompts to continue setting your listing up.

  5. It's very important to select "No" in response to the question "Do you want to add a location customers can visit, like a store or office?". Enter the area(s) you service, and continue on to the next prompts.

  6. You will be prompted to enter your phone and website, as well as your business mailing address. Don't worry, when you enter the address here, it won't appear on your GBP listing.

  7. Make sure to verify your listing! Google may give you one or more options. For more information on each of the options, read our support article here.

  8. Let us know when your listing has been set up and verified, and we will request management access to your listing, allowing us to work to improve your online presence!
