If your products are showing as “Out of stock” in Google search results, don’t worry — this is usually caused by how your structured data is set up, and it’s easy to fix.
Google updates its structured data requirements several times a year. In May 2019, they rolled out changes affecting how product availability is displayed.
We’ve added an Advanced Inventory Control setting so you can control how this appears in search results.
How to Fix It
Go to the Dashboard → Click Structured Data
Scroll down to Advanced Controls
If you don’t use Shopify to track inventory, select:
“Ignore inventory levels, mark all products as in-stock.”
Once you save this setting, we’ll automatically update your structured data so Google sees your products as in-stock.
Speeding Up the Update
Submit your XML sitemap to Google Search Console (instructions here) to help Google find the changes faster. We recommend using the Ongoing SEO Sitemap App which you can install here.
Google will still need to re-crawl and index your site. This can take 4 days to 4 weeks, so be patient.
Once re-indexed, your correct product availability will show in search results.
