What do the pain scores and RPE scores really mean?

Updated over 3 weeks ago

Not every ache or sensation is the same — and that’s why we ask you to rate both discomfort/pain and exertion.

Pain score

  • Discomfort: a feeling you notice but that doesn’t interfere with your running.

  • Pain: a feeling that does interfere, distracting you or holding you back during your run.

In the following table, you can find more information on how to interpret the pain score:

RPE score (Rating of Perceived Exertion)

RPE is your own assessment of how hard a session felt. It complements the hard numbers (distance, pace, load) with valuable insight into your perception.

After every run, the app asks for your RPE. Tracking it over time helps spot fatigue, balance training intensity, and make sure your load progression matches how tough it actually feels.
