Customizing the Checkout+ Widget
You have full control over how the Checkout+ widget looks and what it says. This article covers all the customization options available to make the widget match your brand.
Widget Copy
The widget displays two lines of text:
Line 1 (headline) — The primary message shown on the widget. Example: "Protect your order against loss, theft, and damage."
Line 2 (subtext) — A secondary message with additional details. Example: "Includes CashBack rewards and Satisfaction Guarantee."
Both lines can be customized in your Protect settings. You can adjust the messaging with your account manager to match your brand voice or highlight the benefits most relevant to your customers.
Button Labels
Two buttons appear on the widget:
Checkout+ button label — The call-to-action button (e.g., "Add Checkout+" or "Protect My Order").
Opt-out button label — The decline button (e.g., "No thanks" or "Continue without protection").
Customize these labels with your account manager to use language that fits your store.
Colors & Branding
Match the widget to your store's look and feel:
CTA button color — The background color of the Checkout+ button.
CTA text color — The text color on the Checkout+ button.
Background color — The widget's background color.
Accent color — Highlight color for the price or other accent elements.
All colors are set as hex values (e.g., #030712).
Powered by Onward
Control the Onward branding on the widget:
Show/hide the "Powered by Onward" badge.
Inline display option — Show the badge inline with the widget text instead of as a separate element.
Logo color — Light or dark version of the Onward logo, depending on your widget background.
Info Modal Customization
The "Learn More" modal shows cards for each enabled benefit. You can customize:
Card Content
Each card has two customizable fields:
Heading — The card's title (e.g., "Shipping Protection" or "Earn CashBack").
Text — The card's description explaining the benefit.

Enable/Disable Cards
You can toggle individual cards on or off. For example, if you have CashBack enabled but don't want to feature it in the modal, you can hide that card.
Multi-Language Support
Widget copy and modal content can be customized for different languages.
Currently supported locales:
English (en)
French (fr)
Set different text for each locale in your Protect settings. The widget automatically displays the correct language based on your store's locale.
Money Format
Control how prices are displayed in the widget:
Use your store's default currency formatting, or
Override with a custom format.
