Full Admins, Schedulers, and Commissioners with permissions can now add custom write-in locations and surface names for game events, which is ideal for tracking games scheduled outside of your OTTO Sport system-managed facilities. This update makes it easier to log games held at external sites without requiring them to be tied to predefined Locations or Surfaces in your OTTO Sport system. This allows you to create and manage externally scheduled games without compromising structure, visibility, or mobile experience for your members.
Adding Placeholder Locations & Surfaces
1. When manually adding games in the Game Schedules view, click the compass icon.
Note: Options to select from your system Locations/ Surfaces will still be available by re-clicking on the compass icon.
2. Next, type in your Location name. Google Places will search for the Game Location.
Street, city, state, zip code, and country will all be auto-filled based on Google Places data. Addresses are optional, so if one is not selected, you can still proceed.
3. Enter the name of the Surface and input all other game details. Once complete, click Save.

When using a Placeholder Location & Surface, the write-in value will be displayed in all system views, reports, and on the mobile app. The Placeholder Location & Surface name will display as unlinked text in areas where Location names are typically linked. I.e, Team Pages > Game Schedules section.
Team Page > Game Schedules view
Mobile App view

Note: When using Placeholder Locations & Surfaces, the system will bypass any scheduling conflict checks.
Editing or Updating Games with Placeholder Locations & Surfaces
When editing games from the Game Schedules report, the same functionality is provided as outlined above to toggle between either selecting from System Locations & Surfaces, or providing the option to write in a Placeholder Location & Surface Name.
