Import Games (Schedules)

Updated over 3 weeks ago

Answer

Once Locations and Surfaces have been added, you can add games to the system. There are a variety of methods available to expose game dates on Team Pages, the Mobile App, or the Referee Management System. This article covers the process of importing games into the system.

Importing Games (Schedules)

To ensure a successful import, check the following settings before starting the process:

  1. First, ensure your season has at least one division defined. This can be reviewed in Seasonal Structures > Edit Season > Structure Depth.

  2. If your structure contains Age Groups, it is best practice to ensure they are first defined properly in your Seasonal Structure. Age groups can be set up and defined per seasonal scope for consistency in the Seasonal Structures > Settings view.

  3. Ensure all locations and surfaces are available in your Locations directory. Only existing locations and surfaces can be imported.

To begin your import:

  1. From the navigation, select Settings > Scheduling > Import Schedules.

    • The Game Import process is also available in the Teams product by navigating to Settings > Teams > Import Schedules.

  2. Using the dropdown menus, select your Program/Competition and Season. Once selected, a template will automatically generate. When downloading the .CSV template, column headers will dynamically change to include the selected season’s structure depth level names. (See screenshots below for example)

  3. Fill in the template as follows:

    1. Game #: Enter a unique game ID per row. If left blank, then a game number will be auto-assigned.

    2. Date: Enter a date. Format must be MM/DD/YYYY

    3. Time: Enter a time. Format must be 00:00 AM/PM

    4. Duration: Numerical values only. If left blank, a default of 60 minutes is set for duration.

    5. Location name:

      1. If using a system-managed Location, the name must exactly match the existing Location Name.

      2. If using an unmanaged location, enter the Location Name.

    6. Address: Enter the address for the Location.

    7. City: Enter the city for the Location.

    8. State: Enter the state for the Location.

    9. Zip: Enter the zip code for the Location.

    10. Surface Name:

      1. If a system-managed Location was entered, then the Surface Name must exactly match the existing name for the Location.

      2. If using an unmanaged location, enter the Surface Name.

    11. Divisions (Custom per season): Enter the corresponding Division Name as defined in your Seasonal Structure per column. Note: The team-level must be listed on the lowest level of the Season Structure.

    12. Home Team UUID:

      1. Importing Games for Placeholder Teams: Enter team name or leave blank

      2. Importing Games for Existing System Teams: Copy and paste the Team ID for existing teams. Please be sure the UUID is an exact match.

    13. Home Team: Enter the home team name.

    14. Away Team UUID:

      1. Importing Games for Placeholder Teams: Enter team name or leave blank

      2. Importing Games for Existing System Teams: Copy and paste the Team ID for existing teams. Please be sure the UUID is an exact match.

    15. Away Team: Enter the away team name.

  4. Once your file is ready, save the file locally on your computer. You can then drag your .csv file to the blue upload area on the import screen or click the target area to select from your computer's files.

  5. Click Next to review your data to be imported. You will be able to correct some errors directly on this view, depending on the type of issue identified. If errors can not be amended on this view, they must be corrected on your file and then re-uploaded.

  6. Once the import is complete, you will receive an email confirmation. Your schedules can now be opened for access to Team Staff/Team Members when you are ready.
