**If the card is expired or it’s a bad card number, the system won’t retry.**
Only if the amount due is over the credit limit then the system will retry.
When a credit card 1st declines during the installment due date, the processing system will attempt to run the card three more times:
The 2nd time the system attempts to collect the installment amount due is 3 days after the initial transaction was declined.
The 3rd time the system attempts to collect the installment amount due is the next Friday after 2 days.
The 4th and final time the system attempts to collect the installment amount due is then the next 1st or 15th of the month, after 2 days.
EXAMPLE:
If the system first attempts to collect the installment on Tuesday, August 1, 2017, and it fails, then the system will re-attempt to process the amount due 3 days later on August 4, 2017. If that transaction fails, then the system will attempt to collect the next Friday after 2 days, which would be August 11, 2017. If the card declines again, the system will attempt one last time on the next 1st or 15th of the month after two days to collect the payment due. If the card declines this time, then the system will disable to credit card on file.
