What Happens When a Game or Practice Creates a Conflict?

The system automatically checks for conflicts based on location, surface, date, time, & duration. Games and single practices must be resolved before saving, while practice series can proceed with conflicts left unscheduled for later editing

Conflict Identification

When creating games and/or single practices, if a conflict arises, you will not be able to complete the addition of the scheduling event until the conflict is resolved. Site-wide system verifications will run for the following combinations to check if any conflict exists with previously scheduled games and training/practice events:

  • Location/Surface

  • Date

  • Time

  • Duration

Game Conflicts

When manually adding game details from Schedules > Season > Add a Game, if any values result in a conflict, the value will display a red highlighted border with text reading “Current value will create a conflict”. The Add button will be grayed out until all conflict values have been resolved/changed to ensure game details do not clash with existing scheduled play or trainings/practices.

Conflicts when Creating a Single Practice

When creating a single practice and selecting to use a location/surface that already has an event scheduled on it, a message will appear letting the user know that their current selection will create a conflict. A different location/surface will need to be chosen in order to add the training event to the calendar.

Conflicts when Creating a Practice Series

When creating a practice series and selecting to use a location/surface that has an event(s) scheduled on it, upon clicking Add, a warning message will appear letting the user know of the conflict and providing two available actions on how the user can proceed with scheduling the series:

  • Proceed: If selecting Proceed, all individual Practices in the series will be created; however, time and location settings are left blank for any Practices in conflict. Those will be considered unscheduled until later edited in order to send notifications and be visible on calendar views. The location/surface would then need to be input at a later time. (See below)

  • Cancel: If selecting cancel, you will be returned to the prior view to make any necessary adjustments to avoid conflicts.

If confirming to create the event series and conflicting events are created with blank locations, at any time you can return to the Practices Schedules view, locate the event(s), and select the Edit Training Event button to enter a location/surface.
