Scan Forward (found in the Season Structure Wizard) allows the system to look ahead a certain number of days to find field space.
β
When each game is scheduled, it looks for available field space on the given game day. If there is not enough field space for the game on that day, or if other restrictions such as a requested day off prevent scheduling on that date, it is not scheduled in the first pass.
β
In a second pass, after all games have had one chance to be scheduled on the correct day throughout the season, each game is tried again. If the Scan Forward setting is greater than zero and less than 10, then each successive day is searched for available field space, up to the limit of days set by Scan Fwd.
β
For example, a league that plays weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays would use only Tuesday dates in the date group but specify 2 in Scan Fwd so that after all Tuesday slots are used up, then Thursday slots would be considered.
β
Note: It is important that the date group lists the first day that games can happen. If games can be played on Saturday and Sunday and Saturday is the first day, then only enter Saturday dates in the Date Group. Your field permit will list out all fields that are available on all days. The system will start on the first day (in this case Saturday) and if it can't find room it will look ahead to Sunday assuming there are fields available on that day.
