Households on an installment plan can now pay more than what’s currently due, up to the full remaining balance, at any time. Choose how much to pay per item, how extra payments are applied to remaining installments, and whether to use a saved payment method or enter a new one.
Note: This feature is available to households on the Order page only. Admins paying on a household’s behalf will continue to use the existing Record Order Payment workflow.
1. Access your Order to Make a Payment
When you have a payable balance on an installment order, a Make a Payment button appears at the top of the order page alongside your remaining balance and any amount currently due.
Note: The Make a Payment button is hidden in the following situations:
The order is past due. Use the Pay Now button instead, which opens the same payment dialog
A payment on the order is still being processed. The bar will show “A payment is being processed. You can make another once it has gone through.”
2. Choosing How Much to Pay
When you select Make a Payment, a dialog lists each item on your order with three columns:
Amount Owed: The total remaining balance for that item.
Due Now: What’s currently due today or earlier.
Payment Amount: How much you want to pay (defaults to Due Now)
You can increase the Payment Amount for any item, from what’s Due Now up to the full Amount Owed. The total updates automatically as you adjust amounts.
Important rules:
You must pay at least the amount currently due on each item. You cannot pay less than Due Now.
You cannot pay more than the full Amount Owed for any item.
If an item has a balance due, it must be included in your payment; you can’t skip it.
Items on financial aid are not listed and cannot be paid this way.
3. Choosing How to Apply Extra Payments
If you pay more than what’s currently due and your order has more than one installment remaining, you’ll choose how the extra amount is applied:
Reduce my next scheduled payment (default)
Extra payment is applied to your soonest upcoming installments first.
Reduce my last scheduled payment
Extra payment is applied to your furthest upcoming installments first, working backward.
Spread the extra amount across all remaining payments
Extra payment is spread evenly across all remaining installments in proportion to each installment’s amount.
Pay my remaining balance in full
Fills every item with its full Amount Owed, paying off the entire order balance in one payment.
Note: Due dates never change regardless of which option you choose. What’s due now is always paid first.
If only one installment remains: The application options are not shown. Paying more than what’s due simply reduces that final installment amount, and its due date stays the same.
4. Choosing Your Payment Method
After confirming your payment amounts, tap Continue to Payment. You’ll choose how to pay:
Update Info for remaining Order Installments
Uses the card or bank account you enter for this payment and replaces your saved payment method for all remaining installments going forward.
Apply Info only to THIS Payment (default)
Uses the card or bank account you enter for this payment only. Your saved payment information for remaining installments stays unchanged.
Pay with my payment information on file (shown when available)
Charges your saved card or bank account on file without requiring you to enter anything. This option only appears when your saved payment method is active and not expired.
Note: Accepted payment types will vary depending on your organization's settings.
Service Fees
If your organization charges a service fee, it will be calculated based on the amount you’re paying and the payment method you choose. The service fee does not reduce your remaining balance.
5. Submit Payment
Your remaining balance will be updated along with your installment amounts. A record of your payment can be found in the Order Transactions History section of your Order, as well as a confirmation sent to your email.

Good to Know
Due dates don’t change. Paying ahead doesn’t move your scheduled installment dates.
Paying an item’s full Amount Owed leaves nothing further due on that item
If a payment fails, the amount you chose to pay remains due as usual. The same as any failed installment payment
Only one payment can be processed at a time. If a payment is still being processed, the Make a Payment button will be hidden until it completes
FAQs
Can I pay ahead if nothing is due yet?
Yes, if nothing is currently due, you can still pay any amount up to your full remaining balance using the Make a Payment button.
Will paying ahead change my installment schedule?
No. Due dates stay the same regardless of how much you pay ahead. Extra payments are applied to reduce the amounts due on future installments, but the dates themselves don’t change.
Can I choose a different card for just one payment without updating my card on file?
Yes, select Apply Info only to THIS Payment to use a different card for that payment only. Your saved payment method for remaining installments stays unchanged.
What if I want to pay off my entire balance at once?
Select Pay remaining balance in the payment application options. This fills every item with its full Amount Owed so you can pay everything off in one transaction.
Can I split a payment across multiple payment methods?
No, each transaction uses one payment method.
