Firstly, make sure you have:

  • a spare HDMI cable. You can buy these from any computer supplies store or Amazon.

  • an HDMI to mini-display adapter. Most computer supplies store will have these as well as Amazon

Plug your adapter into the mini display port on your laptop. This will be found at the back of your machine.

Plug opposite ends of the HDMI cable into the HDMI ports on your mini-display adapter and external monitor. The HDMI port will usually be found on the back or side of external monitor or screen.

Once the HDMI cable is connected your external monitor should automatically be mirror your computer screen. You may need to enter full screen on your computer to fully display window you'd like on the external monitor.

If your computer screen is not automatically mirrored, you may need to manually change the display settings on your laptop.

Ensure your HDMI cables are fully plugged in.

Go to Start and search for Display settings.

Go to the Display menu and scroll down to Multiple displays. Select the "Duplicate displays" option

3.png

Your laptop screen should now be mirrored to your external monitor.

If your connection is still not working, you will need to make sure your external monitor is displaying the correct HDMI connection.

Check which number HDMI port your cable is connected to on your monitor. Use the "display" , "source" or "input" menu on your monitor remote (precise instructions may vary between devices). Scroll down so that the correct HDMI port is displayed.
